This is a great and powerful tool, kindess and motivation are the keyes of every intelligent dialogue. Thanks for your suggestions, Rebecca.
Indeed, another great lesson from Rebecca.
Hi, how’ve you been Rebecca? Just one question about the first part of your presentation.
Is the following question on the board correct? “Could you please lend me $25?” I think it should be “Could I borrow $25 please?” because you are taking some money from someone.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Interesting to know that psychology plays an important role when it comes to getting people do something for you.
Thanks for this superb video lesson Rebecca.
You could ask the question in either of the two ways – the one I mentioned in the lesson or the one you wrote about. Both are perfectly acceptable. Yes, psychology is at the heart of all our interactions with others, isn’t it? It’s just that sometimes we understand what’s at play and at other times we don’t know what’s going on! So, I found this research about using the word “because” to be quite interesting. Great to hear from you again, Regino. My best wishes to you.
Thanks, Nabil. Very kind of you. My best wishes to you.
You are so right. Glad you enjoyed the lesson, Canardo. All the best.

Thanks Rebecca for leaving your kind feedback. You were the first Engvid lecturer who left any comment to reply my comment. I don’t mean that they are mean but… you seem more caring for what students say. Thanks a lot again for your effort of making the lesson and your consideration toward me.
Thanks Rebecca… Good tips.
Thank you for your kind feedback, Sandres1. My best wishes to you.

in the medium-sized request we can give a reason or just in the big-sized request ?
You will benefit by giving reasons at all times, for all sizes of request. Thanks for your feedback, Touzani and all the best to you.

Rebecca, sorry I made a mistake writing your name.
No apologies necessary, Aleachi. And thank you for your kind feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the lesson. My best to you.
Now, I could make polite, soft, and long requests for anything for easily getting people to say “yes” to my request.
I’d like to thank you for this helpful lesson, Rebecca.:)
Yes, well these techniques will improve your chances of getting a positive response. Thanks for your feedback and all the best!
Hi everybody! Dear Rbecca, thanks for this lesson. I have taken the quiz but in my humble opinion the question #2 could be answered with the second option. :)
Thanks for your feedback, but normally the word “may” is more formal than the word “can”. Also the word “accompany” is quite formal. Hope that helps you to understand better. Please check our resource for more ideas:
https://www.engvid.com/english-resource/getting-people-to-say-yes/
All the best to you.
These exercises are helping me a lot.
So glad to hear you are benefiting. My best wishes to you.
Thank you, dear Rebecca!
For below test..
8. Which of these requests is the most formal?
I was wondering if I could take two days off next week.-I chose
I hope you don’t mind my asking, but would it be at all possible for me to take a couple of days off next week? – I did not choose, because of “but would it be at all possible for me” this part. I think it is informal and very direct, it is complicated..
Thanks for your feedback. I understand your point. Generally though, the longer the request, the more we distance ourselves from the situation, and so it is seen as more formal and less direct. Please check my resource for added help with this topic:
https://www.engvid.com/english-resource/getting-people-to-say-yes/
My best wishes to you.
thanks a lot Rebecca
My pleasure. Thanks for your kind feedback. All the best.
Vera Goodyear, indeed…
I am sorry, but the corrector change my comment. What I want to say is that your video was very good….
Thanks for your feedback and so glad you enjoyed the lesson. All the best, Waltav.
thanks
Welcome! All the best to you.
Thank… :)
Welcome! All the best to you.
Thank you Rebecca to learn us both English and psychology in the same time.
You are welcome, my friend. So let me also tell you that you should say: Thank you for teaching us…. and not thank you for learning us. It is a common mistake so don’t worry. Just remember that teachers teach and students learn…hopefully! My best to you.
thank you
You’re welcome, Said. My best wishes to you.
Thank you Rebecca, Your lesson is useful But it is hard to say because these expression longer I can’t remember however I try to remember.
The best thing to do in such cases is to start with the medium -sized request and learn just ONE expression / question, which you can use with everyone in the beginning. Then, slowly move to learn one expression in each category. Do not try to learn all the expressions at one time. Just choose one and learn that well. Thanks for your feedback and my best to you.
Thank you for your recommended, if I have a chance to speak to other people I try to use short or medium request.
Thanks Rebecca…^^
You’re so welcome! All the best.
Great class!Very nice Teacher!
I thought about another psychology tip , is add “I need your help on the requests”!Right?
Thanks!

Thanx, Rebecca for the usefu lesson. To ask someone to do something we can also use a negative sentence + positive tag, the voice goes up at the end of the tag in sentences like: “You couldn’t do me a favor, could you?”. Sounds tricky ) Am I right?
What kind of request do i need to use to get one million dollars ? : )
Thanks, Rebecca for this useful lesson. I am a beginner in english.
thank you so much
I was wondering if it would be possible for me to grasp all the lessons of engvid.

You are great… Thanks
thank you for the lesson.
I have a question.
You wrote:
“I hope you don’t mind MY asking, but could I please borrow $250?”
Would it be incorrect to say/write:
“I hope you don’t mind ME asking, but could I please borrow $250?”
If both are correct, what is the difference in meaning?
Thanks a lot for this lesson, Rebecca.
This is very useful for me! Thanks a lot~!!

It help me so much in speaking and writing . I don’t know it before. I always curious why someone could write a very easy thing so long. For example: borrow a pencil. I just say: May I borrow your pencil, please? I don’t realize that you could write in another way that show your polite .I wish I could have seen this video earlier because when I was in middle school 20 years before in China , I could have got higher score in test if I could write a long paragraph .
