No, being right is a state that “belongs to her”. The ‘her’ is a possessive adjective. We can’t use the subject pronoun “she’ because there is no verb for it. The subject for the verb ‘scares’ is the phrase “her being right” with ‘being’ as the noun (gerund).

These kind of grammar lessons are soooo difficult. I should watch the video a couple more times to get the main idea. Indeed, I think the examples make it much easier to understand than just the grammar explanation.

I’m not sure whether what I asked was so understandable — this is the correct structure.
You can’t omit the ‘will’ in the second example, because then I would not know it’s a future situation. Also, it’s not a conditional, it’s an object clause for the verb ‘knows’.

beyond means further than a point mentioned (I will work even beyond my limits — harder than I can (meaning I will push my ability further).
Among is the same as between, but for 3 or more people, things, etc. (America is the richest among the western nations)
Toward shows a direction of movement (in the direction of a stated target) — More and more people are moving toward the left in terms of politics.

Sometimes it’s better to immerse yourself completely in the new language Rmr. Eventually, you’ll put away the Spanish grammar book and have no issues with the English ones ;)
I said because this subject is almost equivalent to that one from Spanish Grammar. As my mother says: ” if you know well about your language, you’ll learn better another language” and she’s a Language teacher.

It’s time (that)she went to school. adjective clause to define what time.
It’s time for her to go to school.- prepositional phrase as adverb complement to complete the meaning of time

Hello Adam! Thank you for this brilliant lesson. I am absolutely positive that, even during the 5 years of English course, I had never seen a deeper grammar lesson. However, I don’t mind, because I love grammar. It reminded me my Portuguese lessons at school. Incredibly both languages are quite similar in this point. The verb in the clause is a be verb (is), which doesn’t take objects.Be verbs only take subject complement (subject – this: this is what you want)

I can’t understand one thing:
In the video that’s about noun clauses, this clause “that I met the right person” is a that clause(complement):
(the last example)
When my mother, who was only 18 when she had me, told me I should wait until I get older to marry Lucy, I knew she was realy happy (that) I met the right person.
But here “that you’ve decided to come” is an adjective complement:
I am happy (that) you’ve decided to come.
What is the difference between these two clauses?

Oh my god! :-O when I saw this lesson, it seems you were in a hurry Adam, you were describing so fast and sometimes you left your sentence incomplete. I got only 4 scores out of 10 which is very disappointing. Maybe it is better for me to check predecessors first. :(
In question one: Jennifer doesn’t believe (that) Ron was at the office last night, Jennifer doesn’t believe is an incomplete sentence, it means that is the dependent clause. We know that noun clauses are dependent clauses.
Ron was at the office last night is the independent clause, because its meaning is complete solely. So, Jennifer doesn’t believe is subject noun clause.
But in the answers noun clause is object of clause.

it will take some time before i understand everything = object for 1verb
It = 2subject
will take = 2verb
some time before = object
before = preposition
i = 3subject
understand = 3verb
everything = object for 3verb
before i understand everything = object for preposition(before)

Hello, Adam, I’m writing to you from Armenia. I teach English at University and as we are in lockdown now because of the pandemic, we teach our students online. One of the courses I teach is called Practical grammar and now we are studying the complex sentence. So I thought it’s a good idea to assign some videos for them to watch at home and I chose 3 videos which you made- Types of sentences, Dependant clauses, and Noun clauses. They are very good and I hope the students will find them useful. But I have two questions to ask you about the topics. In the Noun Clauses you wrote a sentence on the board which said “It’s more a question of whom she sait it to that why she said it.” I teach my students that when we have a preposition at the end of the sentence then we use “who” instead of “whom” (…a question of who she said it to…”). The second question is about the word “predatory IT” in the video Dependant clauses. I think it should be ‘Preparatory IT”. I have the screenshot of these but I don’t know how to send them to you.
This one was tough, I will go deeper into learning noun clause. Great activity, needs more practice. Thanks for these amazing videos on you tube. Please post something on you FB page about noun clause..

I’ve got a question about question 2:
What is the function of the noun clause in the following sentence?
Mom, Dad, at the parent-teacher meeting tonight, take whatever the teacher says to you with a grain of salt; she hasn’t liked me from day one.
The correct answer is: object of clause
There must be a direct object in this sentence. We ask with ‘what’ or ‘whom’ for this object.
I would use the interrogative ‘why’, but we don’t ask for an object with this word.
What would be the question for the object here?

Whenever this overweight, elderly, and funny-looking old geezer uses Microsoft Word on his laptop, which has Microsoft Home 2010 factory installed, certain phrases sometimes are underlined in blue, and certain suggestions may be offered in how to improve the phrase so that it is more grammatically correct. Whenever such a blue-lined and underlined phrase appears, the writer has the option to choose why the phrase has been underlined. When I had typed: “In the United States alone, an average of 875,000 abortions are ‘legally’ performed every year,” Word underlined in blue “an average of 875,000 abortions are.” When I chose to find why that phrase was underlined in blue, the reason given was: “noun/verb agreement.” Apparently, Word had taken “an average” as the subject, and therefore suggested that the phrase be modified to read either “an average is,” or alternatively, “averages are.” My beef with either one of these ridiculous options is that “average” is not the subject! “Abortions” is clearly the subject, and because the subject is plural then the verb must agree with the subject, in which case “abortions are performed” is grammatically correct. As a purist of the English language, what is your stated opinion? Which is the subject of that phrase? Short of throwing my laptop out of my dirty and rusty bedroom window onto my weed-infected patch of grass outside, I instead opted to yell at the stupid electronic gizmo thing: “an average of 875,000” is an adjectival phrase modifying “abortions”!!!!
