Arrive at, on, or in a city? Arrive on, in, or at Monday? In this basic grammar lesson, I’ll show you the right preposition to use with the verb “arrive”. An important lesson for all English learners who are confused by prepositions.
Many thanks teacher for this lesson ; very easy and helpful
HICHAM83
Prepositions are always a real headache for students of English. But the way you explained them in this lesson makes it easier for me to understand their use.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Rebecca.

Regino
i got 1oo :D Woowwww

In = Countries / cities / specific point inside place
At = time / closed place
on = days
kotoz
thanks, it is a valuable lesson
huda201
Am I right with the following?
I arrived IN the end of the winter (IN) 1999.
bonhob
I’m not a teacher but my opinion is no. Because, ‘the end of the winter’ is pretty specific time. ‘In’ covers time in broader sense.
I would say: “I arrived AT the end of the winter IN 1999.”
sasha11
You can use Lang-8.com in order to be corrected in your writing.
Regards!
Alvaro
Thanks to know this
Specific time or specific location ” AT”.
Specific day or date ” ON”.
specific city / country / year or season “IN”
Manjunath Joshi
I arrived at the end of the winter
Erick jaime
I believe it could be: I arrived by the end of the winter in 1999.

Thank you very much, Rebecca for you lesson. I’m pleased to learn English by using the EngVid.com site. It gives me the opportunity to improve my language skills. I fill this. Might I make my guess about the rules in your last lesson? I’ve formulated the following: As far as time is concerned we use the preposition AT if the specific moment is indicated (it’s clear);
the preposition ON if the duration isn’t more than 24 hrs, i.e. the whole day long or the date.
If the duration is more than one day long we use “IN”. That means two, three days, etc, a whole week, a month, a season, an year, the glacial epoque, a lifetime of the universe.
For instance, I’m going to leave Saint Petersburg in the last week of July.
Am I right in my guess? or is it just erroneous conjecture?
Anyway, please correct my example.
urs68
Many thaks, but I have a question?when can I use the preposition of “in”?EX:I’m in the offive or hospital or I’m at the office or hospital.Could u guide me?many thanks again.

Those articles from the Torontostar newspaper:
1)And the survey found that 70 per cent of respondents believe the Quebec Liberal government is corrupt, which would not be good news for Charest as he seeks a fourth term as premier in the Sept. 4 vote.

Hi Rebecca:
Could you please explain the difference between Might have and Might. Both are past tense of May, for example They were not at home, they might have gone to park.we used here have plus P.P. what if I say in simple past for example they were not at home they might go to the park? Notice verb is in base form? What would be differnce between these two sentence. Why we used Have plus P.P in first one?
Kindly help

Hi Rebecaa, thanks for this lesson, these prepositions make confusion for me before. now i know how to use them correctly, however i have question: which tense of this statment ” I’ll be arriving ______ Friday and leaving the following Thursday.” and if it’s thhe future then why don’t we say i’ll arrive… directly and without verb to be?

I used to say for example:I arrived to Heathrow airport… instead of I arrived at Heathrow airport yesterday. And another example: I arrived to Canada last month instead of I arrived in Canada last month.
So my question is: is that right to use the preposition (to)as a second way ? or its wrong to use (to)??

Prepositions are always a real headache for students of English. But the way you explained them in this lesson makes it easier for me to understand their use.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Rebecca.

i got 1oo :D Woowwww
In = Countries / cities / specific point inside place
At = time / closed place
on = days
thanks, it is a valuable lesson
Am I right with the following?
I arrived IN the end of the winter (IN) 1999.
I’m not a teacher but my opinion is no. Because, ‘the end of the winter’ is pretty specific time. ‘In’ covers time in broader sense.
I would say: “I arrived AT the end of the winter IN 1999.”
You can use Lang-8.com in order to be corrected in your writing.
Regards!
Thanks to know this
Specific time or specific location ” AT”.
Specific day or date ” ON”.
specific city / country / year or season “IN”
I arrived at the end of the winter
I believe it could be: I arrived by the end of the winter in 1999.
Thank you Rebecca. Great lesson and very useful

Hi, Rebecca. I want to thank you very much for your videos. Its help me a lot. Now, I have a request, little off topic. I’ve started to make some quizes on my notebook, but.. my hand writing is not so good. I am not sure how to write by hand correctly some letters. Can you make a short movie about how to write by hand all the letters and when we have to use capitalize letters. Thank you very much! Cata

Very useful. Thank you, Rebecca. I like your way of teaching!
Thank you Rebecca. I want to ask you that: in this sentence “I’ll be arriving ______ Friday and leaving the following Thursday.” why we don’t get “on” before Thursday ?

amazing! very helpful!!
Great!!! Its very helpful …
Thankful for your kindness and share .. ;)
It is very helpful….so i have to say thanks rebecca.
wow.. it’s great. I like it.
Thank you very much, Rebecca for you lesson. I’m pleased to learn English by using the EngVid.com site. It gives me the opportunity to improve my language skills. I fill this. Might I make my guess about the rules in your last lesson? I’ve formulated the following: As far as time is concerned we use the preposition AT if the specific moment is indicated (it’s clear);
the preposition ON if the duration isn’t more than 24 hrs, i.e. the whole day long or the date.
Many thaks, but I have a question?when can I use the preposition of “in”?EX:I’m in the offive or hospital or I’m at the office or hospital.Could u guide me?many thanks again.
Am i right if i could say, I arrived in the Maldives at the end of the Winter in 2012?
This grammar lesson is useful to me.
thank you Rebecca.

I’m so confused with at, on, in: There are 2 sentence from Torontostar includes prepositions,Robeca Could u pls help to clear this,
1- in the Sept. 4 vote. – why not on the Sept.4 vote? (because it is specific date)
2-in the Quebec construction industry – why not at the Quebec construction industry? (because it is a specific industry?)
Those articles from the Torontostar newspaper:
1)And the survey found that 70 per cent of respondents believe the Quebec Liberal government is corrupt, which would not be good news for Charest as he seeks a fourth term as premier in the Sept. 4 vote.
2)The former Montreal police chief is best known for leaking his explosive government-ordered report into corruption and collusion in the Quebec construction industry
Please Robeca or Alex clear this confusions.
Thanks in Advance.
More Confusions:

Both are past tense of May, for example They were not at home, they might have gone to park.we used here have plus P.P. what if I say in simple past for example they were not at home they might go to the park? Notice verb is in base form? What would be differnce between these two sentence. Why we used Have plus P.P in first one?
