Thank you gill. I got 09/10. Lesson was great.
“It’s midnight, and there are no trains or buses”
why is ‘or’ not ‘nor’?
It must be ‘neither’ instead of ‘no’ to use ‘nor’. Of course, everything there is correct
you’re definitely right, Oks
I think it should be:
“It’s midnight, and there are NEITHER trains NOR buses”
Great.. thanks a lot
Thnx
good
Hi there. What about “get to” + base Verb? for instance, you don’t get to do it, she doesn’t get to speak with him, They don’t get to say that. As a native, do you often use it? I would translate it as in “you don’t have the right to do that, you are not allowed to do that or you’re not supposed to do that”. Correct me if I’m wrong and TIA.
Hi Rafa — thanks for this example. The meaning is to get an opportunity to do something, eg “I got to drive a Porsche”, I got the chance/opportunity to drive it. I hope this helps to clarify :-)
thank you Gill

If you want to get _______ your profession, you will need to study in your spare time.
away with
going with
hold of
on in
I have a question about this item. Is “ON IN” grammatically correct in a sentence? Thanks in advance!
Hi Omar — yes, you can have ‘on in’ in a sentence, as in this example. The separate parts of the sentence are ‘get on’ … ‘in your profession’. It just happens that the two prepositions appear together.
this list of different way how we can use get like get out of hand, get rid of, to get used of, to get back home, to get hold of something, to get going, to get together for a chat, to get a move on, to get on in career, she is getting on a bit, to get away with. This is a benefits list of getting so we could learn exactly well that get has multiple used in English.
I am going to make a list of getting I do not handle successfully soi will be able to make some sentences to clarify…

Dear Gill, thank you for your lessons. I have a request, could you do a lesson about subjunctive in English? I read Wikipedia page about it but honestly I’m more consfused than before. I don’t understand why I can say “I suggest he go to see a doctor”, but I can’t say “I hope he go to see a doctor”.
Thank you.
