Do you know what a ‘phrasal verb’ is? In this lesson, I will explain what a phrasal verb is, and teach you the most common phrasal verbs native speakers use to talk about clothing. I will teach you dress up, zip up, do up, wear in, kick off, have on, and many more! Phrasal verbs can be difficult for English learners to remember. Watch this lesson and then take the quiz, so that you’ll remember them all!
A GREAT LESSON TEACHER AND A VERY GOOD CHOICE ☺
and exactly what we needed without suggesting it.
It will be very helpful if you give us a lesson about “GOING TO THE AIRPORT” that was what we needed from you. “GOOD LUCK DEAR EMMA”
(Hassan from Iraq , Kurdistan)
Hassan Haval
Teaching phrasal verbs in a meaningful context (Clothing, in this case) helps a lot to memorize them in order to put them into practice.
I’ve watched other video-lessons on phrasal verbs on EngVid and they have really been difficult to memorize for me because the whole set of PV belongs to different contexts.
Thanks for this excellent video-lesson Emma.
Take care! Bye for now.
Regino
thanks to your good and meaningful teaching.

Hello Emma! Thank you for a great lesson! If you don’t mind, I would like to ask you some questions that have nothing to do with this video :) As far as I understood, you learn the Chinese language. And the first thing I want to know is why did you decide to learn Chinese? Is there a necessity to do this or you just like this language? And the second one is how do you learn it? I have always dreamt to speak in the Chinese language, but I just don’t know what to do first. Could you give me some advice? Thank you in advance!
P. S. Sorry, if I’ve made some mistakes :)
dyulya
Oh, and I also want to ask you one more question! Is there some differences between ‘to speak English’ and ‘to speak in English’? Thanks :)

Thanks for the lesson Emma. Here I got a question. In the video you mentioned take off can be used to describe the action of undress. But I checked this phrasal verb in Cambridge Dic, there are only three meanings for “take off”:
1.(of an aircraft) to leave the ground and fly.
2.infml To take off is also to leave suddenly.
3.to suddenly become popular or successful.

Thanks Emma! I tried to find practical examples of using verb “have on” in context of clothes throughout a huge numbers of songs, films but actually I got almost nothing. Is it really rarely used?
SJShip
It is a bit difficult, because often it’s just “…on” (like in “Devil With a Blue Dress On”), or the more informal “got…on” (like in “Ooh Love”: “I got my shoes on now, I might be leaving tonight”).
Those were just two examples that came to mind, but I will keep looking for more!

Teaching phrasal verbs in a meaningful context (Clothing, in this case) helps a lot to memorize them in order to put them into practice.
I’ve watched other video-lessons on phrasal verbs on EngVid and they have really been difficult to memorize for me because the whole set of PV belongs to different contexts.
Thanks for this excellent video-lesson Emma.
Take care! Bye for now.
thanks to your good and meaningful teaching.
Thanks Emma, please do more, i love phrasal verbs and idioms!

emma please help me . I have to keep in my mind a lot of words and memorize them in a short time . what should I do ?
I think It’s good idea to use memory lifter from http://www.memorylifter.com
Hi Dedo, just out of curiosity, why do you have to memorize a good number of words and what is even worse. . . in a very short period of time?
. . . just to recite them from memory? It makes no sense to me.
I’m still wondering. . . why? Remember memory can play tricks on you? (LOL).
Regards
use dates and milk while you memorizing english terms :)
hello; it’s better for you to practice the new words you have learnt so far to memorize them for along time. good luck

Oh, and I also want to ask you one more question! Is there some differences between ‘to speak English’ and ‘to speak in English’? Thanks :)
*Are there any differences? :) Sorry for my mistakes. I will try to avoid them!

3.to suddenly become popular or successful.

Hi Emma
Thank you so much for the topic you discussed.
I need information about “get into”, apparently it uses in the realm of phrasal verbs about clothes.
Could you please give me some examples
Thanks in advance
Reza
thank you emma :)
One mistake.
I made it without mistake. Thank you are great teacher
thank you so much teacher! love from korea <3
Thanks Emma !!
Thanks Emma !!
Thanks Emma! I tried to find practical examples of using verb “have on” in context of clothes throughout a huge numbers of songs, films but actually I got almost nothing. Is it really rarely used?
It is a bit difficult, because often it’s just “…on” (like in “Devil With a Blue Dress On”), or the more informal “got…on” (like in “Ooh Love”: “I got my shoes on now, I might be leaving tonight”).
Those were just two examples that came to mind, but I will keep looking for more!
Great lesson, Thank you Emma.
I am glad to find the connection with you and I am looking forward to continue. Your lessons are well made what helps me very much.
thanks teacher

Zip up, Do up,button up,fly.Fly is a new meaning i just see i usually use this as a verb only i now know it is when you let your jean keep opened.kick off, turn off and many more i mean the most important thing here is the preposition in, down, on.

Hi Emma, When is too hot I should take off my jacket I think, Why should I put on? Engvid shows the correct answer is Pun on. Did I misunderstand?
