. You will learn the meaning of expressions like I’m all ears
, It’s all in your head
, all shook up
, all hell broke loose
, know-it-all
, pull an all-nighter
, all in a day’s work
, not all there
, for all I know
, and many more. You might recognize some of these from movies or shows, as they are very common expressions used frequently by native English speakers. These will be especially useful in casual conversation with friends and family.

Thanks for the laughs James.
I must say you do dress well, maybe you should make us a video and give us some tips.
Great lesson, Mr. James…!!
Query:
Shouldn’t the idiom “Not all there” be classed under “Mental State”? After all, if you have a mental illness, you are classified as “crazy”, “stupid”, retarded or; “Not all there!” (BTW, I am a native English speaker from N.Z.)
Dear James,
I am an English teacher. The truth is that the way of your teaching helps me a lot. I pull out all the stops to teach like a native speaker like you. All yours.
Thanks James! You’re the best! But please check the idiom ‘shook up’…I’m almost sure it should be ‘SHAKEN UP’ (if my memory is still good..shake is an irregular verb..shook is its past simple and shaken its past participle ;). Love u !
It is not strictly grammatically correct, but you will hear it used that way.
Thank you James.bz way you’re a great teacher.

Thank you so much for such an incredibly useful and meaningful video lesson! I’d like to ask whether it’s right to use in the sixth question of the quiz (At first, Harry and Ron thought Hermione was …) as an answer “not all there” instead of “know-it-all”. Thank you in advance!

My home work story…..
Last summer i pulled an all-nighter for my final exam .I was exhausted ,but it worth it because i did so well.
At the end of that day i was invited to school gathering at a luxuriousrestaurant.
Everything went perfect until out of nowhere a woman showed up ,she walked straightly to the man who was sitting next to our table.
She pulled his hair so badly while pouring a cup of water in the face of his date..
It was a moment of silense, all hell broke loose.
That man tried to escape put he all shook up.everyone was scared to make a move
Eventually it turned that woman cauht her boyfreind cheating her with her best friend .
I can’t say that woman not all there because i understand why she did that butfor all i know that man’s her will never grow up again.
thank for the video
