fresh off the boat
or feel like a fish out of water
in an English-speaking country, but watch this video, and the world will be your oyster
. You won’t clam up
when you have to speak. You’ll stop being a dead fish
in bed. After you watch, take out your trouser trout
and do the quiz!

Love it, Thank you, Ronnie :)
Idioms always make our talking more colorful and natural.
They are useful tools that help us see to some good extent how the English language works.
It was a concise and interesting video-lesson.
Have a great week Ronnie!!!
P.S. I wonder why you don’t like idioms Ronnie.
Hi again Ronnie; just to let you know that I searched for the quiz high and low, but to my dismay I couldn’t find it.

Hi Ronnie, thanks for your always interesting lesson, but I have a question; you said this idiom ” fine kettle of fish’ means a good situation, however when I checked this idiom on this website http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ – I found it means a very difficult and annoying situation >> what do you think?
It is often used sarcastically to mean a bad situation. Just like sometimes when something bad happens, people say
"Great."
Yes!It’s a controversial one. Whom should we listen to, Ronnie?
Ok, I’ve got it. I didn’t notice the engVID’s comment^)
But is the sarcastic meaning really common?
Thank you Ronnie! Come to think of shrimp, it reminds me the movie ‘Forest Gump.’ Run, Forest, run! This phrase is very impressive. Have you ever watched it? For some reason, I think probably you have.

What the meaning of immigrate
It means “to move to another country”. Like “Many people immigrated to Canada hoping for better jobs.”
(When you want to emphasize moving out of instead of moving to, it’s “emigrate”: “My dad emigrated from Thailand in 1970.”)

wow! your lesson is very good!!
I wanna good at english~ I WILL TRY~
Hi Ronnie, your lessons always surprise me! Thank you for your dedication.
Hi Ronnie!
Unlike you, I fond of seafood and fish! Thanks for this lesson :) It is the good opportunity for learning vocabulary and for acquaintance with interesting idioms which could use in speaking in the same time! Some of these idioms have been remembered easily. For example, about shrimps, ‘fresh off the boat’ and “fish out of water’ ))))) What a interesting, we have some version about fish but it is directly opposite – ‘as fish in the water’ that means feel myself comfortable, in familiar atmosphere.
great lesson ,,,, thanks a lot
Hey, Ronnie! You said you don’t know why people say they are happy as an oyster. I don’t know if it is the same in Canada, but here in Brazil this idiom is common too. And people say it ironically. Because oysters aren’t happy at all. The pearl is like a tumor, and it happens when a grain of sand get in the oyster. So, the life of an oyster is suffering. Sad, isn’t it?
hi ronnie igot a perfect score, yeheyyy.thank you
Great lesson Ronnie thank you

You are the best! You made my day :)!
Thank you so much…
i am happy as a clam to have listened to your video; thanks for it ronnie
Thanks
very funny lesson, great Ronnie
What funny options the test have! Thank you.
i disagree a mite with Ronnie on the meaning of “a fine kettle of fish” and “Flounder”
“A fine kettle of fish” means (strongly in my opinion) – a troublesome situation (not good situation); a vexing problem.
“Flounder” means (according to urban dictionary) -a shapeless woman who has neither breasts nor an ass. She is thinly shaped up and down much like the fish.
Hope it will help!
Again, thank you Ronnie, for more one cool and interesting lesson!!!
I always think that ‘fine kettle of fish’has the opposite meaning and it means a very bad situation. Strange enough
good lesson thank you
thanks!
