gender animals or birds in stories ? for example at the dead bird writer margaret wise brown ….the bird was male …his funeral …..His !! why is not Her ?!!?
Genders in English – Are animals and things he, she, or it?
It often depends on the person’s relationship to animals. I’ve seen both “it” and “he”/“she” when talking about animals. When you’re talking about a specific animal, he/she is much more common. If you’re talking in general, people use it.
Don’t walk under an elephant. It’ll kill you!
My dog’s name is Brutus. He’s a labrador.
85, not that bad, thanks Alex
Not bad at all! Keep it up!
can’t believe I got 100 :)
Great job! The next step is the hardest: put your new knowledge into practice.
Thanks a lot.
80 is okay for me
That’s good! Try the quiz again in a couple of days and see if you remember everything!

That’s great to hear! I’m glad the experience is enjoyable. The next step is to internalize the knowledge and to use it in a real context!
I got 60…I can’t do it
Try again in a couple of days. It’s usually easier the second time after you internalize the knowledge a bit more.
An interesting lesson.

I’m glad it was useful. Good luck with your studies.
18/20. Hmm.
That’s a good result! But the numbers aren’t the most important part. The most important thing is to be able to use the knowledge in a real context.
Thank you so much Alex!!
Phrasal verbs are always difficult for English learners, but this lesson was clear and excellent explained ;)
I’m glad to hear it was clear. :) Even as a teacher, I understand the frustration that many students feel when it comes to phrasal verbs.
Here a correction: “…was clear and excellently explained”.
Thx Alex!
Any time. Thank you for studying with me!
Thank you Alex.
Always a pleasure, Tyrion. Merci!
Thank you Alex! It was very clearly, useful and interesting. I’ve got 95!!! I think it’s not so bad!

Dear Alex,
I have problem in speaking and whenever
I open my mouth to talk English I faced to problem and I cant continue. What can I do for improving my speaking?
Hi Bahar, this is a common problem for most people who are learning a new language. Often, the issue is confidence or because the student hasn’t really internalized the knowledge they have acquired. I would say that you should try to really focus on the material you’re studying here and to make sure you understand it. For conversation, it’s also important to learn and memorize very common phrases such as “For sure,” “I’m not sure,” “What do you think?” “I’ve never heard that before,” “I wonder if…” etc. By memorizing these types of phrases, and practicing them regularly, you’ll feel more comfortable in conversations. It also helps if you are able to be part of some kind of conversation group where you can practice freely without worrying about making mistakes.
I hope this helps!
merci de cette belle léçon en Anglais
De rien! Merci a vous d’avoir regarder cette lecon! Je ne sais pas si cette phrase est correct. Haha.
Hi Alex, and everyone.
Thanks for this lesson: I love learning new phrasal verbs!
I think I could start a collection…
And thank you for the words about bees: I too am dismayed and scared by their disappearance. In France we have a movement called ” Nous voulons des coquelicots” (We Want Poppies) that fights against the industrial use of pesticides.
That’s a noble cause. More countries should be concerned about it to help secure the earth’s future.
I got 95. THank you teacher….!!
Nice job, Jakub. Keep it up.
Thank you teacher.
I got 90%.
Nice job! The next step is to put your new knowledge into practice.

Hei Alex,it is confusin but I still like it. thank you teacher.
Greetings! First, let me congratulate you for the great videos you´ve been posting. They are super useful. My question is: how can I become an associate teacher and start uploading videos here too? Sorry for using this space for such a purpose, but I couldn´t find a FAQ or a “contact us” section. Thank you very much!
I got 17 outta 20, that’s not bad at all but I missed some phrasal verbs you didn’t explain, however, perhaps i had to know it for fact.
Hi Alex, how can we memorize all these intrasitives phrasal verbs? It seems me very dificult. Please show me how…
Can Turn around have an object? As: “Can you please, turn around the the burger at the stove for me?”. Thanks.
B the way. Excellent classes.
Hi dear Alex
I passed test and I had 3 mistake
1-8-19
I can’t understand these sentences obviously
Could you give me more information
Thank you. 95%. I now know the difference between “passed on” and “passed out”.
You have to watch the video as many times as you need to understand it well. I watched the video once and still don’t understand all its content, but I’m gonna watch it again, and again, and again, until I can use them in real life. Good luck!
Hi, Alex! Congratulations, you are a great teacher, man! Nice video and interesting, too. I got 85/100, but as you said: the most important is understand how to use those intransitive phrasal verbs, in order to use them in real world. Greetings!
Phrasal verbs have always been my Achilles heel.

Hi Alex, first of all thank you for your way to teach and give us information, I really uprisuate it . They _______________ with the building project despite warnings from safety inspectors.
ended up
went ahead
moved in
Hi Alex, first of all thank you for your way to teach and share with us information, I really appreciate it. I have a couple of questions to ask. Why we shouldn’t use “end up” instead ” go ahead” in this sentence “They _______________ with the building project despite warnings from safety inspectors.” Does not the word “despite” show us the opposite meaning of the action? Thank you.
I have got 85 of 100! Good.
