I really like this method. The advantage of this method is that it allows you to prioritize the material. Key ideas are written to the left of the page, subordinate ideas are then indented, and details of the subordinate ideas can be indented further.
It is very comfortable to review the notes and then summarize the class in one or two short paragraphs using own words. This summary will significantly affect the recall and will help to prepare for the next class.
