hi,
i have some doubts about “would”
In Americal spoken english the word “would” uses everywhere.
i know the habbitual actions but would uses in many conversations….
i think it has several meainings. So Can you explain where we use would while we speaking to others.
thankyou
jac
I am so glad hearing this questions because of good questions. ı have same trouble using would.
nihatozen71
We use would when we offer something to someone. For example: Would you like some tea? We use would in conditional clauses, and also for past habbits. Example: When I was a child, I would eat lots of cake and so forth.
Try to find usage of would online. Take care.

Way to go. Thanks man.

Hello James,
Thank you so much for your English video lessons, I have really learned from them, you are a great teacher.
If it is possible, I would like to know more about the verb to be. I know it is the basic verb, but it has a great variety of using, for example in the sentence: ‘We are to preach the Gospel’ I suspect it has the meaning of ‘have’ ‘ought’ and so forth.
Thanks again,
Nelson.

What’s up James ?

Hi James,
It has been very good to see all your videos. I learned many things. Thanks very much for you and your team.
I have some doubts with respect to this video.
In your explanation for three of the Idioms viz. “Pulling someone’s leg”,”Pulling a fast one” and “Pulled the wool over his eyes” you have mentioned it as either joking or tricking. But I haven’t understood the clear difference between three of these. Can you please elaborate more with exact differences or is it all the same.
Once again thanks a lot.

Many people use, “BY THE WAY” after saying something. What does it mean by “BY THE WAY” and how to use it?
UM PHOR
“By the way” means that you want to say something in addition. Example: Happy birthday honey, here is your present! By the way, your aunt said hello to you! Hope you understand :)

Very useful, thank you.
However, these are not phrasal verbs, the expressions in the lesson are idioms.

It looks like you are right about this lesson not being about phrasal verbs and you taught me something new.
The word “idiom” is also used to refer to figurative meaning expressions.
Спасибо большое мадам.

Hello !!
First of all thanks for this very nice lesson. As usual, it was very rewarding. I would like however to ask, if it’s not already in Engvid’s (I’m going to search it after posting this), for a lesson in which we learn the difference between full & fool, pull & pool, bull & bool, etc …
Good luck.

Hey, can you tell me the meaning of “To pull an all nighter” please?

Thanks.you are helpful teacher.

Mr James I enjoyed your lessons. However, phrasal verbs are verbs made up of a verb+preposition such as Pull away; Pull out; Pull back; Pull together; Pull over; Pull oneself together; Pull in; Pull on and there are many more.
When I read the title of your lesson I thought you were going to go over the meaning of the above mentioned.
You just mentioned idiomatic expressions with the verb pull and you also forgot to prepare a quiz for us. The title of the lesson is missleading.
On the whole I appreciate the effort you guys are doing for free and I’ve learnt a lot from you. Million thanks

Phrasal Verbs and English Idioms mixed with the verb “pull”, it was an interesting lesson about how to use this verb and their three meanings. A little difficult to remember all the idioms but when we see them again we will have more acknowledge about them. Thans a lot teacher James for the explanation. A good performance.
