hi Emma. Good lesson:)
I have a question.
Could you tell me what “become of aware” means?
e.g.”Eating slowly and pausing in between bites helps you to become of aware of when you are comfortably satisfied.”
I’m not able to find the phrase in any dictionary.
https://translate.google.com.mx/?hl=es&tab=wT#en/es/become%20of%20aware
here is your answer if you r from a spanish speaking country
.
Teacher i have a question 4u!
are numbers from 1 to 20 single numbers??
hi adam, what “become of aware” means, firstly it’s up about your context in a talk, but it means you will realized o noticed somenthing that’s gonna be a fact after you’ve taken up a special task.
i hope i’ve have helped you.
cheers
Hi guys!
I don’t think so. “become of aware” doesn’t exist-in my opinion. it was a mistake. it should be written “become aware of” there.
become of aware- it’s a mistake. it seems to me that it should be written “become aware of” there.
Great lesson Emma. It was missing to me till now. Thanks.
Really interesting. Thank a lot.
Great lesson and teacher , thanks a millions .
Great Lesson. Thank you.
Thanks for your explanation.
waoo! what a confusing but helpful lesson Emma. I appreciate that you and engvid for being so mindful and point out these common six mistakes. I commonly make those mistakes but will not anymore. Lastly,Emma I need you to clarify which of the following sentences is the correct one:
I have a son who is ten years old or I have a son who is ten-year- old. Thank you in advance for your kindness..
I’m not Emma but I think I can help :) “I have a son who is ten years old” is the correct one, you can write it with hyphens when you make it like “I have a two-year-old son.”
This is great lesson. Thank Emma
very clearly. learning. GREAT!
Well done, Emma…!!! Thank you.
Hi Emma!!
Thank you for this lesson, it was something that I didn’t understand well, but now its clear.
thanks Emma :)
Thank you I need more preactice my english.
The itch has been scratched! Thanks a lot Emma.
Hello Emma, I have two questions because I’ve been reading many English forum boards concerning IT stuff, and people there write 1, 2, etc. all the time, actually whatever number they want to write, they write as a number. Maybe it’s IT-thing, I don’t know. I’ve never paid much attention to it because you know, it’s a way faster to write 8 than “eight”, especially using a computer keyboard. :) But now I’m just wondering if is it really bad if I write 1 instead of “one”? Of course, this looks weird when you start a sentence with a number, so I could agree with you as to starting a sentence using something else.
The second questions is about using dash in “twenty-year-old”. I saw native speakers writing, for example, “twenty year old”. Any comment? Is the dash necessary, or can we omit it?
Just don’t expect people (even natives) to wright everything correctly, as we do in our own mother tongue, people just don’t pay any attention to the orthography, OK, I won’t generalize, but many people do so…
Thanks for the great lesson.
Thank you very much Ms.Emma.
You have made a very exhaustive lesson on numbers.
I do a lot of mistakes with numbers but now you’ve swept off all of them.
Thanks a million,Emma.
P.D: Or thanks a millions?….;)
Good lesson
Thanks for your great lesson!
Hi Emma
I’m lagging behind in English but your lesson helps me to understanding the subtle nuances of dynamic English.
I would like you to describe use of some essential words like beyond, along, within …
what i don’t understand is what is the correct pronunciation Ty or dy !!?
I guess I can help you:
How to write How to read
ForTY ForDY
SevenTY SevenDY
TwenTY TwenDY
I hope you have understood me.
In addition, it also depends on the accent. In American English, “some” TY endings sound like a fast DY (also called a tap T, a sound that occurs when the T is between vowels or semi-vowels); differently, in British English, the T is mostly pronounced as the real T sound.
That T being a D (or tap T) occurs because the mouth and tongue take the same position, but for making the D sound it’s necessary to vibrate the vocal cords. That’s why the T is a voiceless sound and the D is a voiced sound. If you try to whisper the D, it will sound like a T. Try it out!.
Tip for beginners: Use the real T. Avoid using tap T if you do not know how to do it properly.
Good luck in your studies!
Please search for True T and Flap T in American English accent. Take care! :)
I don’t understand why in part 4 : I have 9 cats is wrong and I have two sisters is correct, 9 and two are simple numbers.
Thank you

I know what you mean… but actually there is no rule for YouTube-video titles. Thus, we could use “6 mistakes.” In an essay, indeed, the rule is applied. Take care!

Deliberately? Why?
i guess you were answering with hurry and so the mistake, but then you noticed you did not read the correct answer wich you knew.
it appened the same to me xD lol
it was the second question:
—
2. I’ve lived here for 1 years.
Is the sentence written correctly?
Yes.
No — we should write ‘one’ instead of ‘1’.
No — ‘years’ should be ‘year’.
No — we should write ‘one’ instead of ‘1’, and ‘years’ should be ‘year’.
—
as soon as i read the third answer i clicked on it without reading the last one, and also i haven’t thought about the rule of writing single words for numbers.
Too bad, i got 9 out of 10 even if was awae of the right answer… i should have not understimate my skills and take a second to think lol

5. When we pronounce the number fourteen, we pronounce “teen” louder and longer than “four”.
True.
False — We pronounce “four” longer and louder than “teen”.
False — We pronounce both “four” and “teen” loud and long.
There is an incorrect answer in your test. Teen is stressed so is said longer and louder according Professor Emma. She is correct, isn’t she?

Hi, Emma! I’ve got a question concerning the first task in the quiz.
I thought it was correct, because ‘2’ is a single noun. Why to write it as ‘2’ then?
I’ve lived here for two years.
Is the sentence correct?
Yes.
No — ‘two’ should be written ‘2’.
very interesting lesson.Thank you.
Why “I paid hundreds of dollars for my phone” is correct?
Great lesson Emma! I got ten out of ten. Very interesting how to write figures. Using numbers if we have more than one word, using letters if there is just one word.

Hi Emma, can you use more examples.
With reference to the e.g. sentence at 10:45. Please correct me if I am wrong. The sentence should’ve been “Five cats lives at the shelter” . I mean, it should be lives not live. Am I right?
I mean, the auxiliary verb does should be used with Five cats being the subject. So, I said, Five cats lives here at the shelter.
Thanks Emma, very good lesson, i got 9 out of 10
Regards
Thanks Emma. It’s a very useful lesson.
many thanks emma!
Thank you! Very good lesson!
Really Emma ?!!!
This is an advance lesson???!!!
I believe this lesson is under begineer !
I Preciate your efforts and I’ve learned so much from you and other great tutors on this site.
I’ve watched about 450 videos of this site from a few month ago till now, but I expected more improvement for understanding movies.
All I’m saying is I wish you and other great teachers worked more in real life English, Not grammar or IELTS.
Personally I don’t believe in grammar unless you are great in speaking and listening.
As a matter of fact English speaking kids can speak and understand more than all of us.

As a matter of fact native English speaking kids can speak and understand more than all of us !
Even an uneducated English person can do that.
If you want to speak English fluently you should not begin with any grammar lesson cuz it makes you to think when you wanna say a sentence and it’s against of fluency !
The words should come out easily without any thinking like your native language.
I hope I was clear enough.
Last but not least I really hope you teach us more speaking and listening instead of grammar.
Thanks for your efforts.
I really preciate what all of you doing here.
I like you all and wish you the best.
Thanks.

A wonderful class for updating my knowledge! Actually,I have never noticed a numeral single number cannot be placed in front of a Nouns, then I have realized it is the same reason for obeying the rule in computer programming :when we name sth or declare a variable name,we don’t use a numeral at the beginning of it …Thank you so much
Thanks teacher for this great lesson. I did a website to convert any number into a word. I hope it would be useful
numbertoword.net
