Learn why some adjectives in English end in -ING and others in -ED. You will understand when we use each of these endings, as well as the correct grammar and structure for each. I think you’ll find this lesson very interestING.
Ehmmm… I have a comment out of topic: Is it possible signing on our personal profile the results of the quizzes for every lesson?? It’s to rememeber them and trying to make better in future…

Hello James! Once more you taught perfectly! The learning process gets to much better when we learn with a person like you! Congrats!! =]
And James, I have a doubt, which I would be very grateful if you or another teacher could explain on a video. Is about the questions without auxiliary verb. I read about this subject and I got that we do not use auxiliary when the question word is also the subject, but I get so confused on this.
Could EngVid help us on this subject?!

I hope they’ll respond to you soon, and they will, I’ll try to help though if I may :) ,,,.As far as I know it’s that simple : When asking about the subject, just replace the subject with the ((WH question)) word ,, for example, JOHN phoned me yesterday ,,, the question will be ((WHO phoned me yesterday)) more examples ,,, someone knows the answer ((who knows the answer?)) ,,, Earthquaqe has happened in Iran recently ((WHATt has happened in Iran ?)) Hey,James. U really make teaching English fun. Uh, I’m also an English teacher (in China)and I like ur videos which are very interesting. As for -ed and -ing adjectives, I think they can be explained a lot more easier. U just need to tell ur students -ing ADJECTIVES are used to modify THINGS and how u think about them, like INTERESTING movie(u think it’s interesting), BORING lecture(u think it’s boring), and -ed ADJECTIVES are used to modify PEOPLE(how someone feels) and something ONLY people can have(look, expression). For example, I’m INTERESTED in it(I,not thing), He’s BORED with it(He,not thing), surprised look(someone’s look). What do u think? :0

I would explain the difference as: -ed is used mostly for feelings and -ing with characteristics. interesting – a book, a person – that cherecterizes them, and interested – that is a feeling of a person. but thats for elementary students. later on, students learn the other examples by just using them, facing with them on the way.

Thanks for fantastic lesson. I noticed that you present finished action (past) on the right side of the screen. I believe that for most people move to the right is move forward (toward future) and move to the left is move backward (toward past). Maybe it is possible to swap “ongoing action” and “action finished” ?

Not very easy to assimilate the concepts of this lesson, basically it is not very difficult but it generates doubts when you use “-ing” on the active and “-ed” on the passive. I thought “-ing” was for things or stuff and “-ed” was for the person or human beings. Thanks a lot, teacher James, an interesting lesson.

sir, may i ask u i bit confused about the answer of quiz
the answer said if:
6. the room is very crowded xxxx..
may i know why we cant say crowding?
i heard if the noun is thing we cant use -Ed adjective.the room is thing, right? so why the answer is “crowded”.
Thanks sir, anyway i’m sorry if my grammar so messy,,hehhe

I believe that your explanation wasn’t easy to get it. That diagram has too much letter is quite confusing to be honest. The difference is pretty simple:
ED: it describes feelings or emotions.
ING: it describes characteristics of a particular situation.
Thanks for your lesson, you should make another well-explained lesson.

Thanks a lot Mr. E :))
Hey,James. :0
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO AND INTERESTING MIND MAP!
Thank you Dr. james
I think James is a good teacher but he speaks very fasta and I can’t undestand his lesson.
This lesson is vevy intersting but i could undestand at all. Thanks
This and all the other videos are very helpful. And In my opinion, even if mastering some braches of english, these teachings are always valuable in order to prevent one’s english from getting rusty. By the way, Great teacher!! Thanks James

James, thank you very much. very interesting lesson. I do have Problem with This topic – Ing and Ed Ending. I Should back to this topic every Day until really Understand. I have a question:where or how can I get your english Lesson Books? I live in Hamburg Germany . Many thanks and by
10, great score, great lesson, hooray!
precise, valuable lesson, usefull for all.
“English grammar, students studying, teachers great.”
thanks so much for all the lessons-
I would explain the difference as: -ed is used mostly for feelings and -ing with characteristics. interesting – a book, a person – that cherecterizes them, and interested – that is a feeling of a person. but thats for elementary students. later on, students learn the other examples by just using them, facing with them on the way.
40%.
Thank you so much for the lesson.
10 from 10 :)
Hi,James. Thank you for your lesson. It was so cool!!!! Take care!!!!
I really appreciate your work
it was rather boring lesson……i didn’t understand anything else.
yeah…thank very much for this lesson, it helps me identifywell between ing and ed
Excellent video. Using grammar you’ve confirmed what I thouth. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Thanks very much for the English lesson James understood it very well got 10/10!
Nice lesson teacher James!I got 10/10.
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
Great lesson!
100 % but in the second time. Thanks James again.
Thanks for fantastic lesson. I noticed that you present finished action (past) on the right side of the screen. I believe that for most people move to the right is move forward (toward future) and move to the left is move backward (toward past). Maybe it is possible to swap “ongoing action” and “action finished” ?
nice man keep it up!
It is a very big problem for my students this subject/theme…how can I help them?
Let’s make it by easy way to comprehend
ED : how people feel
ING: the things/people that make us fell
Hi. James.
I watched this part all over and over, (like 5 time, maybe?)but I can’t still understand :/.
I think this part is basic in the writing skills. (Or reading skills)
Can you teach me what’s different in this sentences?
1. I’m bored.
2. This lesson is boring.
Thank you James for teaching me free english lesson.

I really like how he starts a video
Excellent class teacher it was so interesting.
I’ve got 10 out of 10 thank you James you’re an amazing teacher
too hard on me:(
Thanks James!
James, your class could be better if you gave us some examples. If you had used senteces during your explanation our class would be better.
I didn’t understand this lesson and this grammar :(
Not very easy to assimilate the concepts of this lesson, basically it is not very difficult but it generates doubts when you use “-ing” on the active and “-ed” on the passive. I thought “-ing” was for things or stuff and “-ed” was for the person or human beings. Thanks a lot, teacher James, an interesting lesson.
I’m excited to see that I got 10/10. I believe it happened because the lesson was well delivered by the great James.
hello james .please i need more explication
Alexis González Velázquez. Las Tunas. Cuba
Hello James:
Your presentation was quite nice, in fact, it is a very difficult topic to digest. I hope we could get in touch, though I see you have not posted replies from us. Tnanks in advance for your kind attention.
Great lesson, my son and I enjoy it!:)
sir, may i ask u i bit confused about the answer of quiz
the answer said if:
6. the room is very crowded xxxx..
may i know why we cant say crowding?
i heard if the noun is thing we cant use -Ed adjective.the room is thing, right? so why the answer is “crowded”.
